"People, I have discovered, are layers and layers of secrets. You believe you know them, that you understand them, but their motives are always hidden from you, buried in their own hearts. You will never know them, but sometimes you decide to trust them.”-Insurgent
I just finished reading the Divergent series today. They're pretty good, I admit, I predicted what would happen fairly accurately in the first two books, but the ending to the third left me completely stunned, and now I kinda hate the books. I'm sure I'll think back on it in a few days and see it differently, but the ending was just....I mean, it fit and all, dont get me wrong, but it didnt need to happen. I'll put it this way; J.K. Rowling didn't have to kill off one of the Weasely twins, did she? She just needed some more drama. Same thing with Veronica Roth, minus two ginger guys. You'll see what I mean.
But the books actually had some very good quotes. So I've taken the liberty to post a few of my favorites here.
“We both have war inside us. Sometimes it keeps us alive. Sometimes it threatens to destroy us.”
“I feel bare. I didn't realize I wore my secrets as armor until they were gone and now everyone sees me as I really am.”
“There are so many ways to be brave in this world. Sometimes bravery involves laying down your life for something bigger than yourself, or for someone else. Sometimes it involves giving up everything you have ever known, or everyone you have ever loved, for the sake of something greater.
But sometimes it doesn't.
Sometimes it is nothing more than gritting your teeth through pain, and the work of every day, the slow walk toward a better life.
That is the sort of bravery I must have now.”
“I'll say it one last time: Be brave."
